Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was raised and born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam her mother has been a backup singer in the past at Philadelphia International Records. When she was 5 years of age, her dad landed job as curator at Philadelphia's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family relocated to the historic landmark. As a 2005 Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts graduate who is majoring in the field of vocal music. Sullivan started singing as a contralto in the children's choir, then a few years later in the adult choir. Sullivan was not exposed to secular music. The singer recalls she was in her 11th year when someone asked her to sing solos at the church. The singer wasn't quite ready to go. At that time, McDonald's held a contest with children from large cities. I had the opportunity to sing "Accept What God Allows" at The show Showtime At the Apollo. And the public was extremely supportive. When she was 13 years old, she sang with Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday. Sullivan had signed her first contract to Jive Records when she was 15. She recorded the entire album but it was never released. Sullivan was later dropped from the label. Missy Elliott was her producer for several songs on her debut album. The most notable of these was "Backstabbers", a buzz track recorded by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
